Statement of Significance (as of designation - May 15, 1975):
From about 1868 to 1887, this two story, white Victorian frame house was the residence of Elizabeth Cady Stanton (1815-1902), an the early proponent, philosopher, and leader of the women's rights movement. Stanton delivered the call for female suffrage at the Seneca Falls (New York) Convention of 1848.
