Statement of Significance (as of designation - January 20, 1961):
The battle that began at sunrise on January 3, 1777, on a field outside Princeton ended when British troops who were barricaded in Nassau Hall surrendered. Washington's victory here helped raise the morale of the colonists at a time when the Continental Army had suffered a series of defeats, and helped to strengthen his position at home an abroad.

Condition:
Incompatible new construction by a private institution is proposed on an adjacent site, directly visible from the Park. The proposed development is on an area that retains great integrity from the period of the Battle of Princeton.
