Statement of Significance (as of designation - August 5, 1998):
Unlike many other artists' studios at the beginning of the 20th century, Fenway Studios was built to accommodate the modern professional artist, meeting the four requirements set forth by the artists themselves: north light, proper room layout, convenient location, and a sliding rent scale.

Condition:
Development of Turnpike air rights directly in front Fenway Studios threatens the north light that attracts artists to this Landmark. Additionally, the north elevation of the building has severe structural problems.

The Landmark received a Save America's Treasures matching grant of $250,000 in 2002.

Recommendation/Change since last report:
Local organizations, as well as the National Park Service, should voice opposition to any large-scale development that would adversely affect the integrity of the building. Fenway Studios also needs financial assistance to continue addressing its structural problems.
