Statement of Significance (as of designation - February 16, 2000):
Designed by one of America's permier architects, Henry H. Richardson, Emmanuel Episcopal Church is a small and simple religious structure that is representative of his ecclesiastical buildings. Not known as a "church architect," Richardson died soon after the dedication of Emmanuel in 1886, making this strucuture one of his last works.
