Statement of Significance (as of designation - July 31, 2003):
Completed in 1902, the Allen County Courthouse is the embodiment of Beaux Arts architecture popular in the United States at the turn of the 20th century. The building stands as a monument to the civic pride and progressivism of early 20th century America and represents a rare example of the combination of classical architecture, fine art and sculpture in an American county courthouse.

Condition:
Currently, there are no threats to the NHL.

1. A six foot section of the stencil-over-wallpaper in the third floor hallway was repaired due to water damae and will be rehung. 2. A survey of the building's exterior to access tuck pointing has been completed.
