Statement of Significance (as of designation - April 15, 1970):
A rare example of a small William-and-Mary-era brick and frame country house, situated on the St. Mary's River, on the earliest grant of land recorded in Maryland.
The property is under easement to the Maryland Historic Trust (MHT), which conducted an easement inspection in 2003. MHT approved the design of a new wing constructed by the owner.
Recommendation/Change since last report:
Scenic easements should be acquired to protect historic resources from encroachment.
