Statement of Significance (as of designation - November 13, 1966):
Jerome was one of the richest copper-producing areas in the United States in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The town and surrounding mining area illustrate the historic activities associated with copper production.

Condition:
Most of the historic buildings within Jerome Historic District are in good to excellent condition.

The NHL received Heritage Fund Grants for the historic Sullivan Hotel and the New State Building.
