An expression of utopian socialism, it has been called the "focus of the whole movement of latter 19th century liberalism in America." Bellamy's family moved to this frame house when he was two years old, and, except for occasional periods of absence, he lived here until his death in 1898.

Condition:
The Edward Bellamy Memorial Association acquired the property in 1974 and has maintained the property since. The 160 year old structure is in good condition. A portion of the roof was replaced in 2004.
