Statement of Significance (as of designation - May 5, 1977):
From its beginnings in 1876 as the Glenwood Cottage, this building has been enlarged and embellished over the years until today it is the largest Mission Revival building in California. The Mission Inn contains a hotel, shops, and a chapel centered around an open patio; its furnishings include pieces from the Orient, Mexico and Europe, as well as Tiffany windows.
