Statement of Significance (as of designation - November 11, 1971):
Occupied by the General Assembly in December 1829, this simple two story temple-form stone building, is the seventh--third permanent--state house of the Commonwealth of Kentucky. The first major work of Shyrock, it represents the introduction of the Greek Revival style in Kentucky.
