Statement of Significance (as of designation - November 7, 1973):
On December 17, 1860, the South Carolina Convention of the People met here, and voted on the resolution: "That it is the opinion of this Convention that the State of South Carolina should forthwith secede from the Federal Union, known as the United States of America." The 159 delegates voted unanimously in favor of the resolution, an act which ultimately led to the Civil War.

Condition:
The roof needs replacing. Scheduled to be done 2008-2009 Brick mortar needs repointing and brick needs waterproofing Windows and shutters need replacing.
