Statement of Significance (as of designation - November 11, 1971):
From 1753 to 1797, this was the home of Oliver Wolcott (1753-1797), politician, soldier, and jurist. Wolcott was a delegate to the Continental Congress and a signer of the Declaration of Independence, as well as a State Senator.
