Statement of Significance (as of designation - December 22, 1977):
Completed in 1918, this architectural gem, small in scale, exquisite in detail, makes a strong individualistic statement in a busy small town Midwestern setting. Executed late in the career of Louis Sullivan (1856-1924), this building is one in the series of his commissions that has profoundly influenced 20th-century architects.

Condition:
The building receives ongoing maintenance. Currently, there are no threats to the property.

Peoples Federal Savings and Loan resealed the outside of its building in 2004.
