Statement of Significance (as of designation - January 29, 1964):
From 1875 until his death, this was the residence of Benjamin Harrison (1833-1901), 23rd President of the United States (1889-1893). Harrison accepted the Republican Party's nomination for the Presidency in this home in 1888.

Condition:
There is no threat to the landmark at this time. The home is in very good condition.

Save America's Treasures funding has paid for recent work to restore plaster, woodwork, and windows, as well as install reproduction historic wallpaper and carpeting. The same grant source assisted porch repair and site lighting work.
