Statement of Significance (as of designation - May 5, 1977):
Built in 1928, this massive Spanish Baroque structure was designed during the "Golden Age" of movie palace construction by Thomas W. Lamb (1871-1942), one of the most prolific and well-known theater architects of the 1920s. Fully refurbished, the building is a magnificent example of the gilded extravaganzas that afforded escape from the ugly realities of the Depression.

Condition:
Currently, there are no threats to the NHL

The City Center Shopping Center located directly behind the theater is in the process of closing. The elevators have been updated and a restoration of the marquee occurred--sockets replaced, new wiring, and leaded glass clean and replaced.
