Statement of Significance (as of designation - December 22, 1977):
Home (1928-40) of an entrepreneur who contributed greatly to the development of the petroleum industry in the United States. By the mid-1920s, his was the largest independent oil company in the country.

Condition:
The National Historic Landmark remains in excellent condition.

More than $900,000 has gone towards the restoration of the NHL. This has included replacing the roof, repainting the ceilings, and restoring two flat terraces.
