Statement of Significance (as of designation - November 7, 1973):
This house with an arcaded cellar shows West Indian influence in its design. It was built about 1813 for Dr. James Robert Verdier, discoverer of a treatment for yellow fever.

Condition:
There are no threats to the landmark.

Recently applied new metal roof and reworked or replaced all outside shutters so they are workable in the event of storm. Brought all wood siding up to a high state of repair.
