Statement of Significance (as of designation - December 2, 1974):
Broom, a signer of the U.S. Constitution, served in the Delaware legislature and attended the Annapolis Convention (1786). He lived in this house from 1795 to 1802. Broom also was a pioneer industrialist who established the first contton mill on the Brandywine in 1795. The house is not open to the public.
