Statement of Significance (as of designation - December 2, 1974):
This, a two-story frame house which belonged to the civil rights leader, administrator, educator, adviser to presidents, and consultant to the United Nations, is on the campus of the school she established in 1904. This was her home from its construction in the 1920s until Mrs. Bethune's death in 1955.

The Florida Department of Historic Resources provided a $25,000 grant for architectural plans in 2001.
