Statement of Significance (as of designation - December 8, 1976):
One of the best-preserved Greek Revival houses (1836-42) in the style of Minard Lafever, whose books on architecture were influential in the United States. Exterior qualities typical of the Federal style mark it as a transitional structure.

Condition:
There are no serious threats to this building.

Though not threatened, the building suffers from water infiltration due to poor rainwater drainage. This primarily affects the basement which floods frequently. Other issues affecting the building negatively are: deteriorated gutters, stone mortar pointing, and inoperable door and window hardware.

Recommendation/Change since last report:
Capital money was allocated through the city council office for repairs to the septic system and façade restoration.
