Statement of Significance (as of designation - May 30, 1974):
Abigail Kelly and her husband, Stephen Symonds Foster, were active in the anti-slavery and women's suffrage movements. In the 1870s, they withheld taxes on Liberty Farm to protest Abigail Kelly's inability to vote. The couple lived in this red brick house from 1847 to 1881.
