Statement of Significance (as of designation - December 2, 1974):
This well preserved rambling frame house was the birthplace of Nicholas Gilman, Jr., a delegate to the Constitutional Convention. Gilman served in the U.S. House and Senate.
Condition:
Some routine maintenance is needed and is being incorporated into a strategic plan for the organization. It will be performed within the next year.
Recently received $12,000 donation from local bank to fund cost of repairing storm drains and regrading the approach to the building to prevent water from draining into the basement.
