From 1880 until his death, this was the residence of Edward Drinker Cope (1840-1897), one of America's most prolific and creative 19th-century geologists and paleontologists. He wrote some 1,300 titles, and his entry in the National Academy of Science's "Bibliographical Memoir Series" runs to 60 pages.
