Statement of Significance (as of designation - May 11, 1976):
From 1904 until his death, this was the home of Frank R. Lillie (1870-1947), the distinguished Universtiy of Chicago embryologist, who served as director of Woods Hole Marine Biological Laboratory and president of the National Academy of Sciences.

Condition:
Currently being maintained as part of the University of Chicago campus inventory of buildings.
