Statement of Significance (as of designation - February 4, 1985):
Built in 1928 as the Pullman Company's FERDINAND MAGELLAN, this car was armor plated and donated for use by President Franklin D. Roosevelt in 1942. Subsequently used by Harry S Truman and Ronald Reagan in presidential reelection campaigns.

A State of Florida special category grant funded exterior preservation of the car in 2000, and in 2002 a second grant funded repair of the air conditioning system, rewiring and restoration of the interior.
