Statement of Significance (as of designation - June 2, 1978):
Constructed for the most part between 1917 and 1927, this complex is one of the industrial wonders of the world: an integrated operations plant encompassing all basic steps in automobile production. Here Ford achieved a continuous work flow from iron ore and other raw materials to finished automobiles.

Condition:
The Dearborn Assembly Plant is being demolished after being vacant for 6 years.

This is still an active automotive plant and the complexes are always changing due to requirements to keep the plant operational.
