Condition:
Located in Charleston's National Historic Landmark District, the 1802 Gothic-style Old City Jail includes an addition in the 1820s by noted architect Robert Mills. It has been vacant for over 60 years. A $500,000 matching grant from the 2003 federal Save America's Treasures program will support stabilization of the building exterior in preparation for a complete restoration and subsequent return to active use as a school of the building arts.
