Statement of Significance (as of designation - May 4, 1983):
From 1895 until his death, this was the home of Edward Drummond Libbey (1854-1925), who revolutionized the glass industry. It is the best-preserved structure associated with the early development of Libbey Glass, Owens Bottle, and Libbey-Owens Sheet Glass.

There are no threats to the landmark.

The Libbey House Foundation (a 501 (c) (3) organization) purchased the house in 2008.
