Statement of Significance (as of designation - February 27, 1987):
This wooden carousel (c. 1892-99) is likely the oldest of the three earliest Dentzel menagerie carousels which remain virtually intact. Over 100 of these carousels were produced by the Dentzel Company of Philadelphia, founded in the mid-19th century by a the son of a German carousel crafter. It is the only one of the three still in an historic "shelter" or carousel house. Built from a Dentzel blueprint, the carousel house a rare survivor.

Condition:
Good condition, just needs a paint job. Overall in best shape in the past 30 years.

Installed systems for AC ($24,500) energy efficient, hid units and condensors, great improvement that will preserve the building for years to come. Gradually replacing the doors as funds are available.
