Statement of Significance (as of designation - May 28, 1987):
A rustic hotel with furnishings in the lobby that have a hand-crafted artistry and Gothic feeling reminiscent of northern European woodwork. Built in 1916 on a smaller scale than the Old Faithful Inn in Yellowstone National Park, it was part of one of the earliest ski resorts in the United States.

Condition:
The National Park Service completed a major, two-year rehabilitation of the Paradise Inn public spaces and east wing. The Paradise Inn Annex is scheduled for rehabilitation in 2010. The primary focus of the work has been structural upgrades and life health safety. We were also able to significantly improve the accessiblity to the Inn during the process. All public spaces are accessible and there are seven accessible guest rooms.

Through the line item construction program, the National Park Service is completing a major rehabilitation of the Inn. The Paradise Inn Annex is scheduled for rehabilitation in 2010. Rehabilitation upgrades include structural, electrical, plumbing, fire alarm, fire sprinkler, new fuel storage tank, heating, and accessibility. Preservation or restoration of historic fabric was undertaken to the extent that the elements were affected by the construction work. The Annex is scheduled to undergo a similar rehabilitation effort.
