Statement of Significance (as of designation - May 28, 1987):
A rustic hotel with furnishings in the lobby that have a hand-crafted artistry and Gothic feeling reminiscent of northern European woodwork. Built in 1916 on a smaller scale than the Old Faithful Inn in Yellowstone National Park, it was part of one of the earliest ski resorts in the United States.

Condition:
The Inn will be closed in the 2005 and 2006 season in order for seismic and life safety improvements to occur. Close oversight of the project will continue to occur between the NPS Seattle office, the architect/engineer, park, contractor and SHPO. Contact is made with park staff through the regular planning process surrounding the rehabilitation of the Inn.
