Statement of Significance (as of designation - June 30, 1989):
HA-19 is one of five Japanese midget submarines that tried to attack ships inside Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. She ran aground and was subsequently captured.

Condition:
Th vessel remains in very good condition, located in climate/light-controlled museum setting.

The submarine and musem were transferred from Texas Parks and Wildlife to the Texas Historical Commission. Major expansion of the museum is underway.

Recommendation/Change since last report:
Continued monitoring, routine cleaning and inspections.
