Statement of Significance (as of designation - May 23, 1963):
The longest continuous stretch of clearly defined Santa Fe Trail rut remains in Kansas, the site forms a two-mile arc, 300-400 feet wide in places.
Condition:
No response received from the owner to the 2004 inquiry on the condition of the NHL.
Recommendation/Change since last report:
Highway signage may be needed to inform visitors of the location of the trail.
