Statement of Significance (as of designation - January 3, 2001):
The Wright Brothers National Memorial Visitor Center is one of four nationally significant buildings built by the National Park Service as part of its Mission 66 program. Highly acclaimed, it became a national showcase for Mission 66, and helped legitimize the adoption of modern architecture within park settings.
