Statement of Significance (as of designation - July 19, 1964):
This is a key archeological site for outling the prehistoric cultural stages represented in the Central Plains, and the type site of the Stearns' Creek Woodland culture for the Plains, probably dating somewhere between 0 and 1000 AD.
