Statement of Significance (as of designation - November 27, 1963):
Reconstruction of a 17th-century iron works that operated intermittenly between about 1648 to about 1670. Also includes the 17th-century Iron Works House. An important industrial achievement, though not a financial success.

Currently, there are no threats to the NHL and it is in good condition.
