Statement of Significance (as of designation - July 19, 1964):
These ruins mark the site of the first Spanish-built capital of New Mexico, established at a Tewa Pueblo which the Spanish took over. The capital was moved to Santa Fe in 1610.
Condition:
The condition of the Landmark has not changed since the last report
