Statement of Significance (as of designation - November 13, 1966):
Founded in 1813, the Arsenal's busiest years were during the Mexican and Civil Wars. It became the Government's cannon factory in 1889, producing seacoast defense guns.

Condition:
The iron building and the greenhouse both are threatened.
