Statement of Significance (as of designation - October 9, 1960):
This structure was built 1760-1765 by the widow of Sir William Pepperell (1696-1759), wealthy businessman, military commander, and America's only designated Baronet. The two story frame structure imitates the English High Georgian style; it features a hipped roof, modillioned cornice, and gabled center pavilion with two story Ionic pilasters.
