Statement of Significance (as of designation - October 9, 1960):
The only remaining building of the fort which was the center of Federal authority in the Old Northwest, this structure is a reconstruction of the post hospital originally built c. 1835.

Archeological remains of the first Fort Crawford were found in the roadbed in front of the Second Fort Crawford Military Hospital, and outside of the NHL boundary.

Recommendation/Change since last report:
NPS needs to revise the NHL nomination to include the archeological remains of the first Fort Crawford
