Statement of Significance (as of designation - July 4, 1961):
Cripple Creek served one of the world's largest gold fields, yielding almost $25 million in 1901.

Condition:
There are no new threats to the NHL.

No changes were indicated.

Recommendation/Change since last report:
Continued vigilance by the Cripple Creek Historic Preservation Commission and enforcement of its design guidelines may ensure that the remaining character-defining qualities of the district are maintained.
