Statement of Significance (as of designation - December 24, 1967):
Erected between 1740 and 1746, this group of buildings shows a strong German architectural influence. The cloister is part of a self-sufficient community founded by a German Pietist mystic in 1732.

Condition:
Currently, there are no threats to the landmark.

The American Association of Museums completed a peer review on April 25, 2008 for subsequent accreditation. This will be the third time this designation and honor has been bestowed upon the Ephrata Cloister.
