Statement of Significance (as of designation - April 15, 1970):
Constructed 1750-1753, this is an excellent 5-part Georgian country house with a massive, 2-1/2 story rectangular main block, crowned by a hip roof. The interior woodwork is a fine example of work of the period.

Condition:
Colonial Williamsburg’s large in-house maintenance staff has specialized skills in the preservation/maintenance of historic structures. Two full-time architectural conservators oversee the maintenance activities and conduct condition assessments and conservation treatments on the structures. Carter's Grove is currently closed for reevaluation of its interpretive program.
