Statement of Significance (as of designation - December 30, 1970):
Designed in 1905 by Frank Lloyd Wright and completed in 1907, this is the first monumentally expressed use of reinforced concrete as an artistic architectural medium and also a prime and early example of modern church architecture. Wright was a member of the congregation that still uses the building he designed "for the worship of God and the service of Man."

Condition:
Needs to complete exterior stabilization of Temple and undertake planning for an interior climate control.

Rec'd $100,000 challenge grant from Sara Lee Corporation to assist with fundraising for total restoration. Windows throughout the Temple & Unity House have been replaced on an as needed basis during exterior restoration. Unity Temple received a Challenge Cost Share grant from MWRO for HVAC restoration.
