Statement of Significance (as of designation - November 7, 1973):
This Classical two story brick mansion was built for a wealthy merchant by Robert Mills (1781-1855), native South Carolinian, first Federal architect and the designer of the Washington Monument.

Condition:
Renovations were done to the house since last reporting period.

Previously mentioned work was achieved through capital improvement funds provided by the City of Columbia and dispersed to historic preservation qualified contractors through the site's contractual steward, Historic Columbia Foundation.
