Statement of Significance (as of designation - December 23, 1987):
One of four surviving Presidential yachts, SEQUOIA was used by nine Presidents between 1931 and 1977. SEQUOIA was the setting not only for Presidential social and recreational activity, but also for crucial domestic and foreign policy meetings and decisions.
